What is a Rhinoplasty?

There are no clear-cut answers to this because, in reality, there are a finite number of times you can safely alter the nose. Yet, even small changes can pack amazing results and restore confidence. What does the procedure involve?
In the initial consultation, pre-operative analysis allows the surgeon to assess your goals and examine your nose structure. Together, we will form the safest plan for your treatment goals. It is performed as an outpatient procedure while under anesthesia. Once complete, a splint is usually placed on the nose for one week.
The nose will be noticeably swollen for several days, along with some bruising. It may take some time before all minor traces of swelling disappear. However, significant improvement can be seen by the time the splint is removed after surgery.
What is the recovery time?
Rest for the first week is strongly recommended. After splint removal, more sedentary jobs can be resumed at that time. An additional 2-3 weeks may be necessary for more physically demanding jobs.
What are the risks and limitations?
Some anatomies limit the extent to which a surgeon can make changes. While these may alter overall goals, they shouldn’t discourage anyone from coming in for a rhinoplasty consultation. There is always some level of risk associated with any surgery. The surgeon will review all the risks before the procedure. Infection, post-operative nose bleeds, and numbness are some risks associated with rhinoplasties.
