WHAT IS BBL?

BBL, or BroadBand Light™, is an IPL treatment. This advanced treatment uses a broad spectrum of light, compared to other lasers which use a single wavelength of light. By using a range of light energy, the treatment can be customized to a patient’s skin type based on their treatment needs. The BBL treatment is the perfect solution for patients looking to address:

  • Acne
  • Rosacea and other vascular lesions
  • Pigmented lesions and other deep lesions

BBL can be performed on nearly any area of the body.

WHO ADMINISTERS BBL TREATMENT?

BBL treatments, or BroadBand Light™ treatment, is an advanced laser procedure that requires significant experience to perform safely and correctly. BBL can be incredibly powerful and effective when performed properly, but also very dangerous when administered by an under qualified individual. At Texas Dermatology, the staff members that are trained to perform a BBL treatment include:

  • Aestheticians
  • Laser Technicians
  • Advanced Practice Providers
  • Medical Physicians

HOW ARE BBL TREATMENTS PERFORMED?

Before a BBL treatment, the BBL device will be adjusted to fit your skin type and treatment needs. It can be made more powerful for patients who are looking to achieve results on a shorter timeline. Alternatively, it can be made gentle for patients who have sensitive skin or do not want to experience side effects. Before treatment, you will be given protective eyewear. We may also apply a topical ointment to the skin to minimize any discomfort.

During treatment, your trained BBL provider will direct the light energy around the skin in the desired treatment area. You may feel some warming sensations during this time, although the laser’s CoolComfort Technology will help to keep the skin comfortable. A BBL treatment can take between 30 minutes and an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area.

WHERE IS BBL TREATMENT PERFORMED?
