Who is the miraDry treatment for?
miraDry is for people who suffer from excessive underarm sweat and odor.
miraDry is Your One Stop Solution
There are two types of sweat glands – eccrine glands and Apocrine glands.
Eccrine glands produce an odorless, clear fluid that helps the body to control its temperature. In general, hyperhidrosis is often associated with eccrine glands.1
The other type of sweat gland is called the apocrine gland. Apocrine glands produce a thick fluid. When this fluid comes in contact with bacteria on the skin’s surface, body odor occurs.
Eccrine Glands and Apocrine Glands
How Does miraDry Work?
Do I need sweat glands?
While your body does need sweat glands to cool itself, your body has 2-4 million sweat glands and only about 2% are found in your underarms.2 Eliminating 2% of sweat glands does not affect your body’s ability to cool itself.

DO I HAVE HYPERHIDROSIS?
There is no clear and concise way to diagnose hyperhidrosis except to consider your symptoms. Sweating more when we are anxious, in public situations, or under stress are normal. The condition translates into hyperhidrosis when you are soaked with perspiration in almost every type of environment, even when you are just relaxing at home. If you feel embarrassed by the amount that you sweat and underarm odor, you are likely a good candidate for miraDry® at Texas Dermatology.
