Sun Protection at Schools

In the Huffington Post (5/2, Solomon) opinion piece, Kate Solomon questions why most schools do not educate their young students about the dangers of unprotected sun exposure.

Given the serious threat of skin cancer, Solomon calls on both schools and parents to keep their children informed.

We agree with Kate Solomon that this is a big problem. Schools are quick to pass out hand sanitizer and send children home with lice, but slow to put up shade structures and they rarely pass out sunscreen since sunscreen is classified as a “medication.” If we can change behaviors in school then maybe children will take sun protection more seriously when they become adults!

We are available to provide sun protection talks at your child’s school. Just let us know if interested!
