Dr. JOHN BROWNING, MD, FAAD, FAAP, MBA
Dr. John Browning, M.D., F.A.A.D., F.A.A.P., MBA is Board Certified in Pediatrics, Dermatology, and Pediatric Dermatology. He is an adjunct associate professor at UT Health San Antonio, an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine, and clinical faculty at UIW School of Medicine.
His academic background includes an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, honors program, graduating magna cum laude. He then received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and completed residencies in pediatrics and dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, serving as chief resident of dermatology. He also completed a fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Texas Children’s Hospital and graduated from the physician executive MBA program at Auburn University.
With extensive experience in diagnosing and treating skin conditions in patients of all ages, he loves treating families. He is skilled in laser surgery for a variety of skin conditions and enjoys surgical management of benign and malignant skin conditions, utilizing general anesthesia at a surgery center or hospital when needed. His interests include the use of superficial radiotherapy (SRT) for treating keloids and hypertrophic scars, as well as tropical medicine — having trained at the Dermatology Institute in Guadalajara, Mexico.
A principal investigator in a number of clinical research trials, he has helped bring many cutting-edge medications to the market. Before opening a private dermatology practice in 2013, he was full-time faculty at UT Health San Antonio. He continues training dermatology and primary care residents, encouraging the next generation of physicians to provide quality care in diagnosing and managing skin disease.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. An amateur triathlete and water skier, he loves being outdoors (with sun protection) and has a newfound interest in beekeeping.
