My name is Elvira and I’m 17 years old. The medical condition I have is alopecia. When I was around nine years old, I noticed bald spots on the sides of my scalp and in the back. Once I got older, it started getting worse. Then I just completely lost my hair around age 13. Some of the treatments I tried were the steroid that you get every three months and the treatment that is injected into your scalp. The steroids never worked, but the scalp treatment worked – but it was only in the injected area. It never spread so it was just in one area and then a couple months later it would just fall out again.

When I first started the clinical trial, I was very scared and nervous because they didn’t really know anything about it for the people in my age group, but after it started, I felt comfortable, and I don’t regret it.

I started the trial of March of 2023 last year and I started seeing results around August. My hair was growing out very tiny and then it just kept going and growing more.

The support from the clinical trial team is very welcoming.  When I first got here, I was, like I said, scared but everyone was very nice, and I appreciate it a lot because I was very nervous.

If you’re scared to start, I would say, just go for it!

I used to wear beanies a lot when I was bald but now, I go out with no hat because I’m so proud of my hair, and I’m so happy.
